Join us Saturday, April 23rd for the next installment in our series of exclusive Sugar House Drinking Team Whiskey Tastings! The goal of this event is to taste four whiskies in a blind but controlled fashion, and have a spirited discussion about them.
Did you know Bernheim distilled bourbon and rye have ended up in some of the most sought after bottlings of the last 15 years? This month, we compare and contrast 4 whiskies aged for 20+ years and talk about the changing ownership of different historically important distilleries:
Name Age Proof Mashbill Distillery
- Old Blowhard 26 Year 90 Old Bernheim
- Barterhouse 20 Year 90.2 New Bernheim
- Rhetoric 20 Year 90 Year Old Bernheim/New Bernheim - Stored Stizel-Weller
- Lost Prophet 22 Year 90.1 George T. Stagg Distillery (Now Buffalo Trace) - Stored Stitzel-Weller
We will start with a welcome pour of Bulleit, and move into a discussion about the Old BernheimNew Bernheim Distilleries and Diageo, followed by an examination of the whiskey flavor wheel and general whiskey tasting notes. We will then taste and discuss all four of these whiskies and they each will be revealed, with the intention of furthering your knowledge and understanding of these great whiskies.
